Piano and French Horn

Policies for Leigh Hurd’s Music Studio

2019-2020 Tuition:
The year is divided into three terms: fall, spring and summer. The fee for each term is listed below:

30-minute lessons: $525.00 each for fall and spring, $210.00 for summer
45-minute lessons: $775.00 each for fall and spring, $310.00 for summer

Payment Options:
1. If you are enrolled in Auto Pay (with a credit card on file), you will be charged on the first of the month as follows:

30-minute lessons: $105.00/month
45-minute lessons: $155.00/month

The monthly tuition payment is the entire term’s fee divided by five (or divided by two for the summer). Lesson schedules will be emailed at the beginning of each term.

If lessons are terminated mid-term, please note there may be a balance owed depending on the number of lessons taken and the total amount paid up to that point.

2. If you are not enrolled in Auto Pay, the full amount for each term is due before the first lesson of the term. Due dates are August 15, January 6 and June 1.

Make-up Lessons/Absences
Your tuition reserves your agreed-upon lesson day and time.  If you are not able to attend a lesson, no refunds or credit can be given.  A student may make up one missed lesson each fall and spring term during Make-Up Week (the last week of each term).   There is no Make-Up Week during the summer term. In addition, a student will not be eligible for a make-up lesson if lessons are stopped prior to the end of the term.

Please notify the teacher of an absence prior to the lesson (24 hours in advance, if possible).  Please be respectful and keep a student home if they are ill or have been ill within 24 hours of the lesson. Lessons that are missed without advance notice (no shows) will not be made up.

Flex Week:
There may be one flex week during the fall and spring terms, at the teacher’s discretion. If the teacher needs to cancel lessons one week during the term, the end date of the term will be extended by one week.

FaceTime Lessons:
With advance notice, it is possible to arrange a lesson via FaceTime. This option works well in case of inclement weather or if a student has been ill 24 hours prior to his/her lesson but feels well enough to have a FaceTime lesson. The FaceTime lesson will be held during the student’s regularly-scheduled lesson time.

Summer Policy:
Students must take a minimum of three hours of private lessons during the summer to hold their spot for the fall.

Music Purchases:
Music is supplied by the teacher as needed, and the following month’s invoice will include the charge for reimbursement.

Other Information:
The studio follows the Mason school district calendar and there are no lessons during Thanksgiving, winter, and spring breaks.

In order to receive the maximum benefit from private instruction, students are expected to be prepared for each lesson by practicing at home. A regular practice time most days of the week will help to ensure success.
