Private Music Lessons
Piano and French Horn
Current monthly tuition for the 2018-19 school year is $105.00 for weekly 30-minute lessons. For weekly 45-minute lessons, the monthly tuition is $150.00.
Tuition is due and payable in advance on or before the first lesson of each month (whether the student is in attendance or not). The monthly tuition does not relate to a certain number of lessons per month – it is the semester tuition broken into monthly payments. Most months will have four lessons, some will have more or less. If lessons are terminated mid-year, please be aware that a balance may be owed depending on the number of lessons taken and the total amount paid up to that point. In addition, a student will not be eligible for make-up lessons if there is a termination mid-year. A late fee of $25 will be assessed if tuition is not paid within two days of the first lesson of the month.
Music Purchases: Music is supplied by the teacher as needed, and the following month’s invoice will include the charge for reimbursement.
The studio follows the calendar of the Mason school district; there are no lessons during Thanksgiving, winter, and spring breaks.
Make-up Lessons: Your tuition reserves a regularly-scheduled time for you. If you are not able to attend a lesson, no refunds or credit can be given. One lesson per semester may be made up during Make-Up Week, which is the last week of the fall and spring semesters. This week is devoted entirely to make-up lessons. The make-up lesson will be at the student’s regularly-scheduled day/time during Make-Up Week. There is no Make-Up Week during the summer term.
Please notify the teacher of an absence prior to the lesson (24 hours in advance, if possible). Please do not send a student with a temperature to a lesson. Lessons that are missed without advance notice (no shows) will not be made up.
There will be one excused absence per year allowed for the teacher (for illness or family emergency). Any other absences by the teacher will be made up.
Practice: In order to receive the maximum benefit from private instruction, students are expected to be prepared for each lesson by practicing at home. A regular practice time most days of the week will help to ensure success.
The student will be given an assignment notebook at his or her first lesson, which will be used to keep track of assigned pieces and practice suggestions/goals for each week. For piano students, please plan on tuning your acoustic piano at least once a year.
